our roots

We founded Pine Valley Honey out of a passion for beekeeping. However, in 2012, we – Brian, Rebecca, Jackson, Weston and Wyatt – chose to take our passion to a higher level. Our hobby quickly grew into a business that would touch the lives of more than just our family and friends.

As a small locally, family-owned and operated business nestled in the San Diego County mountains, we were first focused on only offering our honey as gifts to family and friends. Our business started to grow when news spread about our honey. Selling it out of our home, we implemented the honor system - “Take the honey, leave the money.” We trusted the community as they trusted us (through our honey).

It wasn’t long afterward that we began distributing the honey to local gift shops, coffee shops and small markets.

The Difference

There is so much that makes us different from other beekeepers and producers.

We taught ourselves to raise and keep bees. Through trial and error (and many bee stings), seasons passed before we managed to harvest a worthwhile honey crop. Each year, we learned from what the season taught us and applied it to ensure better output for the next season. We continue that method of learning today!

We handle 100% of the business’ processes, including harvesting, bottling, distributing, etc. With basic woodworking  and metal fabrication skills, we built the equipment necessary for successful honey production and harvesting without spending a ton of money.

We focus on eco-friendly methods to care for and manage our beehives, which means we use no chemicals and harvest in small batches. All our honey is completely unrefined and pure. Our hive management style resembles what bees see in nature. Our bees will forage on local native flora and experience a winter dirth

These methods ensure our honey produces an abundance of aroma and flavors loaded with phytonutrients. We believe that everything in nature works as it should, and humans implementing changes (even if they think it is for good) will affect product quality.

This is why we allow Mother Nature to take the reins, and we all reap the reward.

This passion for keeping bees for pure enjoyment has allowed us to connect with nature and all it has to offer. It’s why we have been able to grow and share the honey harvested with the utmost pride. We are dedicated to offering only the best honey for your taste buds. With eco-friendly means and taking a back seat to Mother Nature, you can rest assured you’ll never get inferior honey.
